A ripper Northland Snapper caught and released, courtesy of Daiwa Spartan x TD Sol. This was my first time having Tracker up in the far north, and boy did the Huntsman preform well! The Simrad NSS4 was dialled in whilst the Yamaha held us in the zone.

2 Bites in 15 mins, off the West coast of New Zealand’s South Island, had us landing a monumental fish, a South Island Striped Marlin. After trolling all day in sensational water to no elation. The call was made to follow our instinct and head 20nm north to an unreal chlorophyll and temp break. Upon arrival, we were greeted with what we were searching for, Bait and Marlin. After marking a phenomenal bait ball on @island_time_fishing Simrad Evo3S, we knew we were on. 2 bites in 15 mins of trolling and we had one stick on the shotgun. Having these Marlin show up in the South Island is incredibly rare, and to be able to land one only a couple hours from home was massively memorable. Here’s hoping they show up next summer.

A quick troll through a likely looking piece of water on the way home had us hooked up within 10 minutes! We marked some great bait on the Simrad, high up in the water column, and a quick glance back at the spread confirmed we were in the right zone as this beautiful Stripey piled on the left rigger. The Saltiga LD60 made light work of this fish, with no gimbal or harness even required!! Super stoked to get another Marlin onboard Tracker, this boat is becoming a bit of a fish magnet!

Nothing gets me more excited than the Simrad showing us a couple of big Kingfish sitting right under the Huntsman! The anticipation that follows as the next cast fires out is unbearable! Sure enough, this chunk of a Kingfish made his presence known with a big crash bite! Excessive amounts of pressure was applied on this fish via my Saltiga 14k x Saltiga Breakthrough PE8, the ultimate combo for stopping big Kingfish in shallow water! Super stoked with this fish!

I thought the hardest part was over when I finally got this fish to eat from 5ft deep, turns out that was the easy part. A crazy fight from this fit Brownie had me scrambling all over the pool, applying copious amounts of pressure, hoping nothing would break. Fortunately nothing did, and I was rewarded with this stunning fish!

This fish fought harder than any other trout I’ve hooked, taking me into my backing on its first run upstream, before getting me snagged under the bank. Some slick net work from @maximillian.corbin was implemented in order to land this fish! Definitely one of the larger Brown Trout that I’ve caught, and by far one of the most memorable too!

A mix of cloud cover and strong headwinds made for challenging conditions, but the fish were super hungry and were eating on the first cast!! This fat brown put up a big scrap, initially charging upstream into the next run, before using the current to take me downstream a good couple hundred meters! Fun times! @maximillian.corbin

“Never Say Never” Bisbee’s Black & Blue 2024. It was an absolute honour to fish alongside, and up against, some of the best crews and captains in the Sportfishing industry. Fishing the Bisbee’s has been a tournament I aspired to fish at some point in my career, and to be up on the stage at my first Bisbee’s was a very surreal moment. Reminiscing about this brute, which was one of the larger kingfish that I’ve gone up against this year! This fish fought dirty straight off the bite, pulling all sorts of tactics to try bury itself in the reef, but some heavy drag was applied and I was able to pull the handbrake on this fish. The walk around platform on the Huntsman Centurion HT paired with Yamaha Helm Master EX has proven itself to be a massive advantage when out casting for these big guys!

4wt fun! I am super stoked to have landed this chunky Brownie on the 4wt set up! After losing a nice fish to the willows just a few minutes earlier, I was a bit apprehensive to cast out the light tackle again. Regardless, I cracked out the 4wt again and got the bite on the first cast, which was quickly followed by a blistering run and an insane fight amongst snags and debris! How good!
